Cookies Policy

1. Current position

This is a static website. It does not set cookies, it does not run an analytics service, and it carries no advertising or conversion pixels.

Because there is nothing optional to agree to, you will not see a consent banner. A banner that appears when a site has nothing to consent to is decoration, and we would rather not add one.

You can still open the preferences panel at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. It shows exactly what is in use, which at the moment is nothing beyond what is strictly necessary to serve the page.

2. What cookies and browser storage are

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, and which the browser sends back on later visits. Local storage is a related mechanism that keeps information in your browser without sending it back automatically.

Both can be used for useful things, such as remembering a preference, and for tracking, such as recognising you across sites. The distinction that matters is what the stored value is used for.

3. What this site uses

The one entry with a name is a preference record. It is only ever written if optional cookies are introduced to this site and you make a choice about them, and it stays in your browser rather than being sent anywhere.

4. Third party requests

There are none. Every file a page needs, including the typeface, is served from this domain. Loading a page sends your IP address to the host of this site and to nobody else.

The typeface was previously requested from Google Fonts, which meant an address being sent to a third party on every visit. It is now served from here instead, and that request is gone.

Adding an analytics tool, an advertising pixel, an embedded video or a chat widget would reintroduce third party requests, and this section would need rewriting to name them.

5. If measurement is added later

If analytics or advertising technology is added to this site, the consent mechanism already built into it becomes active. It works as follows:

• Optional categories are declared in the site configuration, along with the scripts that belong to each one
• Nothing in an optional category loads until consent for that category is given
• Strictly necessary storage is separated from optional storage and is not presented as a choice, because it is not one
• Refusing is as easy as accepting, and both options sit in the same place with the same prominence
• Your choice is recorded in your browser and can be changed at any time from the footer link

This page and the privacy policy would be updated to name each technology before it is switched on.

6. Managing your preferences

Use the Cookie preferences link in the footer of any page to see the current position and change any optional setting.

Your browser also gives you control. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear site data from their settings, usually under privacy or site permissions. Blocking cookies entirely can stop other websites working properly, though it will not affect this one.

7. Changes to this policy

If the storage this site uses changes, this page is updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top of the page changes with it.
